Côte d'Ivoire: The Coffee-Cocoa Interprofessional Body Denies Rumors of Tension and Reaffirms Its Collaboration with the Coffee-Cocoa Council

The Agricultural Interprofessional Organisation of the Coffee-Cocoa Sector (OIA-Café-Cacao) in Côte d'Ivoire recently issued a forceful statement to dispel persistent rumours of disagreements with the Coffee-Cocoa Council (CCC), the sector's regulatory body.

In an effort to reassure all stakeholders, from producers to international buyers, the OIA-Café-Cacao described these allegations as "unfounded" and "malicious" rumours, stressing the importance of maintaining stability and transparency within the cocoa sector.

A Collaboration Described as "Exemplary"

The OIA-Café-Cacao was keen to set the record straight, asserting the existence of an exemplary collaboration and a "perfect synergy" with the Coffee-Cocoa Council. These two institutions, pillars of the Ivorian economy, are working hand in hand towards common goals that are crucial to the competitiveness of Ivorian cocoa on the world market.

The Organisation also recalls that it was set up in August 2025 and is currently funded by the CCC itself, which makes the idea of internal tensions illogical and premature. In addition, the OIA stressed that its definitive governing bodies have not yet been appointed, which makes any claim of obstruction by the CCC's management inconsistent.

Priority: Consolidating Production and Guaranteeing Cocoa Price Stability

For the OIA-Café-Cacao, this positive dynamic aims to consolidate the sector's achievements and build its future.

This institutional synergy is essential for several reasons that are vital to the sector:

  1. Reliability of Production: The joint work of the two entities has already made it possible to register more than a million producers across the country, a fundamental step for the traceability and organisation of national production.
  2. Market Transparency: The good understanding between the regulator (Coffee-Cocoa Council) and the interprofessional body (OIA) sends a strong signal to international buyers and investors, guaranteeing better predictability and management of the seasons.
  3. Defending the Cocoa Price: Stable governance is essential to the durability of the guaranteed cocoa price mechanism for producers, thereby protecting their income against fluctuations in the world market.

The OIA-Café-Cacao concludes by reaffirming that these rumours cannot call into question the commitment made in the service of producers, processors, traders and the Ivorian nation.
